How do I connect my chatbot to a Model Context Protocol (MCP) server?

Find out how your chatbot can connect to any hosted MCP server to add powerful features to your AI agent.

MCP is an open protocol that standardizes how applications provide context to LLMs. Think of MCP like a USB-C port for AI applications. Just as USB-C provides a standardized way to connect your devices to various peripherals and accessories, MCP provides a standardized way to connect AI models to different data sources and tools.

To connect your chatbot to a MCP server, go to Tools & Actions and click the Add Action button or select the MCP Server (SSE) action if you haven't added any other actions yet.

Give your action a name and description so your AI agent will know when to use it and enter the Server URL for the SSE endpoint of the MCP server.

You can also add Headers if your MCP server requires authentication to connect.

Click on the Add Action button to add and enable your action. Your chatbot will now be able to use this action in conversations with your visitors.
