You can now use your own OpenAI or Anthropic API keys with SiteSpeakAI. When your own keys are active, messages don't count against your monthly credit allowance, giving you effectively unlimited messages.
How it works
SiteSpeakAI supports two levels of API keys:
- Account-level keys apply to all your chatbots by default. Add them from your profile under LLM API Keys.
- Chatbot-level keys override your account keys for a specific chatbot. Add them in Configuration > Settings > AI Model.
The priority order is: Chatbot key > Account key > Platform key. If no custom key is found for the model's provider, SiteSpeakAI falls back to platform keys and messages count against your credits as usual.

- No credit charges - Messages processed with your own keys don't deduct from your monthly allowance.
- Encrypted at rest - All API keys are encrypted using AES-256-CBC before being stored in our database. Your raw key is never stored in plain text.
